OK, so I watched the men's figure skating last night, the long program going for the medals. It was just so frustrating to me, as weird as this may be to some people, I really like Johnny Weir. Like he said in an interview he is an Olympic athlete and is really good, but people forget about that because of his personality. OK we all know he is gay but that does not have anything to do with his skating so looking past all of that I thought he did really well, so did he. He landed all of his jumps very well but there was one time where he stumbled a little but he did not fall and he was able to recover quickly like it never happened. After his performance he rejoiced in happiness, it was the best he has done. When he sat down to see his scores I was sure he would win a medal, at least a bronze. When his scores came onto the screen, it was so frustrating he was placed in fifth and the Russian skater, Evgeni Plushenko still had to go and he was in first as of the short program, so that bumped Johnny Weir down to sixth!! I think that Johnny should have gotten way more credit then what he was given, the commentators also thought the same. But, anyways, there is nothing I can do about it. The results ended up being:
1. Evan Lysacek (American)
257.67
2. Evgeni Plushenko (Russian)
256.36
3. Daisuke Takahashi (Japanese)
247.23

So at least an American won the gold. Anyways despite the disappointment it turned out to be a really good program last night. I can't wait to see the women's figure skating next week. :)
